Mrs. Borgfeld- Dyslexia
Welcome to Dyslexia at FES! Our dyslexia support teachers support those students who have been identified with a basic reading disability in the area of dyslexia. We provide a welcoming learning environment where our students are given explicit and systematic instruction in reading and spelling. We help to build new pathways in the brain so that our students can learn to read and spell more fluently. Explicit dyslexia instruction provides the key to unlocking the rules of the English language. Comal ISD uses the Multisensory Teaching Approach (MTA) to provide systematic, explicit instruction.
About Me
I have spent the last 30 years in education, teaching first, second, third, and fourth grades. I have spent part of this time homeschooling and providing private reading tutoring. This is my fourth year as a dyslexia support teacher in CISD. I love teaching students to read and spell. Helping struggling readers and spellers unlock their potential is my passion. I graduated from Texas State University and am certified to teach PK-8th grade general education, all-level special education, and ESL. I recently passed my Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) test, and I am in the home stretch of completing a master's degree in special education with a diagnostician certification. I have been married for 32 years, have three grown children, and two sweet little mini doodles named Georgie and Maggie. I love to spend time with my family, read, and craft.
